Russell Turner:
This is the 1st time I’ve ever done anything for charity. Should have started ages ago as it’s been great sorting things out and also introduced me to some new friends.
The ride will be fantastic as we’ve got a great Country and I want to see it all and hopefully meet some great people on the way round. I lost my Mother in Law to Cancer in 2007. The same year my Brother in Law was diagnosed with it. He is, fingers crossed been in remission for a while so thats great news.
Myself and Chris have been meaning to go on a biking holiday for ages. It’s
taken us 24 years to sort out. We thought while we’re doing it lets try and
raise some money for Cancer Research. I’ve always been interested in Motorbikes and have had a list which includes Ducati, Harley, Guzzi and a few Japanese bikes too…

Chris Blanchard:
My main reason for doing this ride is that I lost my father to cancer
a number of years ago and feel that, as many health care professionals tried
their best to keep him alive, I owe it to them to help make their job easier
by supporting research to find a cure.
As well as the charity aspect, it has
been a long time since I’ve been on a biking adventure and will probably be
the first time that Russ and I have been on a long road trip together. As we
have known each other for more than twenty years, it seems almost unforgivable
that we’ve left it so long! So far the preperation for the ride has been extremely
enjoyable.
There is still a lot of work to be done, especially as my bike (at
the time of writing) is far from ready! I can only hope that the ride itself
proves to be as much fun.

Mike Gibb:
I have had many family members and friends affected by cancer and my Aunt Sarah is currently in a Hospice in Slaithwaite at the moment. (Now passed on). I had been planning to do something to help and accidently stumbled upon Russ on a bike forum and thought that this was an excellent
idea.
I am the founder of my own charities World of Owls and Wildlife Rescue Northern Ireland. www.worldofowls.com were we also do some respite work.
I have been riding bikes since I was 12, just love them! Now I can combine my love for bikes, the open road and hopefully do some good for others at the same time.
